| Shama
Mesiwala
(President):
Shama is a senior judicial attorney
in the chambers of the Honorable
Ronald B. Robie of the Third District Court of Appeal in
Sacramento. Before joining the court, she was a staff
attorney
for the Central California Appellate Program (CCAP) where she argued
cases before the California Supreme Court, the Third District Court of
Appeal and the Fifth District Court of Appeal. Shama has been
in
our region since
1995 when she came to Davis to begin law |
| | school. As one of the founders of SABA of Sacramento,
Shama is excited to meet fellow South Asian lawyers and law

Niti
Gupta (Vice
President): Niti is a Deputy Public Defender in Sacramento
County where she began her legal career. She started out practicing in the
misdemeanor unit where she secured a number of trial victories for her
clients, and she now practices in the juvenile delinquency
unit. She received her law degree from Santa Clara

 | Gaurav Kalra (Vice-President of Outreach): Gaurav is the founder of a boutique litigation law
firm, Veda Counsel. Before founding Veda
Counsel, Gaurav was an associate with Bullivant Houser Bailey PC (Sacramento)
and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP (San Francisco, Los Angeles). Gaurav's practice focuses on employment
litigation and complex commercial litigation.
Prior to attending law school, Gaurav was an AmeriCorps
(www.americorps.org) member for two years, teaching | | literacy in central city
communities. Currently, Gaurav is a volunteer advisory board member with a
local domestic violence shelter, My Sister's House (www.my-sisters-house.org),
and an active volunteer with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of
Sacramento. Gaurav received his J.D.
from Berkeley Law (2001) and his B.A. from U.C. Berkeley, Summa Cum Laude, Phi

 | Ramaah Sadasivam (Treasurer): Ramaah is a litigation associate at Downey Brand LLP. Ramaah obtained her undergraduate degree from
the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, her Master's degree from Tulane
University, and her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis

 | Bhavani G. Murugasan (Secretary): Bhavani is a research associate with McDonough,
Holland & Allen. She also works on legal treatises for Ann Taylor Schwing.
She graduated from Boston University School of Law and practiced in New York
and New Jersey before moving to Sacramento. Bhavani can be reached at

Kaur Bajwa (Board Member at Large):
Preeti Bajwa is the founder and a trial attorney at the Law Offices of Preeti
K. Bajwa. She currently practices criminal law, immigration and general
civil litigation in state and federal courts. Prior to opening her own
office, she worked as a Deputy Public Defender in Santa Clara
and Sacramento
Counties. She also worked as an Associate Attorney practicing civil
litigation. She has served as Board Member at Large of SABA Sacramento | | for two years and has also been
involved in NASABA as a member. Preeti attended the University of Nevada, Las
Vegas and Loyola Law School, Loyola
Marymount University in Los Angeles, where she graduated with a JD and MBA.

Tejvir Grewal (Board Member at Large): Tejvir works for the California Parole Advocacy Program run by Pacific
Mcgeorge School of Law. His has worked
as a Judicial Intern for Honorable Judge Richard Kramer of California Superior Court in San Francisco. He has also worked at the Sacramento and Placer County District Attorney's office. He received his J.D. and L.L.M. in Transnational Business Practice from Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.  | Robin Basra (Student Liaison): Robin is a third year law student at McGeorge School of Law. Robin's experience
includes an internship with the Senior Legal Hotline and working for Cal/OSHA Appeals Board as
a graduate student assistant dealing in workplace safety issues. Robin is currently working as a law clerk with the Sacramento Municipal Utilities District (SMUD) handling
research and writing assignments. Robin

| Fatima Alloo (Student Liaison): Fatima
is currently a second year law student at the UC Davis School of Law. During
the summer after her first year, Fatima participated in the Sacramento County
Diversity Fellowship Program where she worked as a summer law clerk at a local
law firm, Klinedinst PC. In addition to her studies, Fatima is a student
